Seven places of memory at La Flèche
On
Saturday, May 17, 2014, the members of the Founders Committee of La Fleche proposed a pilgrimage to seven historical places concerning the life and work of
Jérôme Le Royer. It was with joy that the
Associates of La Flèche, with the suggestion of their Director,
Christophe Maillet, took advantage of their monthly meeting to become part of the occasion, accompanied by
Sister Gisèle Jaguelin, Regional Coordinator, some sisters of the Community,
Marie-Thérèse Rivière, Associate from Laval, as well as other persons invited by
Sister Jeanine Blanche, President of the Founders Committee.
On this beautiful sunny afternoon, we visited the following historic places :
1. The
birthplace of Jéröme
2. The
Prytanée Militaire National where Jérôme studied for 10 years
3.
Saint Thomas Church the place of his baptism presentation of the stained glass window and prayer near the statue of Notre-Dame du Chef du Pont.
4. The location of the
1st Hôtel-Dieu
5.
Port Luneau, recalling the departure of the first recruits for New France.
6. The
bust of Jérôme, in the Carmelite Park, erected during the 350th anniversary of the Foundation of our Congregation.
7. The
medallion of Jérôme, affixed to the exterior wall of the Hospital Chapel, a souvenir offered by the city of Montreal on
March 4, 1956.
At each place, the historic background was explained from a text prepared by Mr.
Jean Petit, of the local Founders Committee. The Associates, for their part, added a prayer or a description of a spiritual quality of our Venerable Founder.
We thank the Founders Committee for allowing us to relive some profound moments in the life of Jérôme Le Royer by visiting these important places that we invite you to come and see in your turn.
